The 46th Annual Sandbridge Pig Pickin’ takes place Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. at Little Island Park in Sandbridge Beach.
What is Sandbridge Pig Pickin'?
The Sandbridge Pig Pickin’ is an annual community fundraiser benefiting the Sandbridge Volunteer Rescue Squad (SBVRS). The volunteer squad has served Sandbridge and the surrounding Virginia Beach community since 1974, providing free, 24/7 emergency medical care to residents and visitors.
The Pig Pickin’ is the Rescue Squad Boosters’ largest annual fundraiser, helping raise money for equipment and resources needed by local first responders. The squad responds to more than 1,000 emergency calls each year, so attending this event is a fun way to spend an afternoon while supporting an organization that plays an important role in keeping the Sandbridge community safe.
What to Expect at Sandbridge Pig Pickin'
Come hungry! Admission to the Sandbridge Pig Pickin’ includes all-you-can-eat food and drinks, including barbecue, sides, soft drinks, and a selection of beer and wine.
But the event is about much more than barbecue. Throughout the afternoon, attendees can enjoy live music, local art, and family-friendly activities. There’s also a bounce house for younger visitors, and children under 10 receive free admission to the event.

How to Get to the Event
The event is held at Little Island Park, located at the southern end of Sandbridge Beach. If you’re staying in a Sandbridge vacation rental, getting there is easy—you’ll simply travel south along Sandpiper Road toward the park.
Little Island Park is one of Sandbridge’s most popular public recreation areas and sits between the Atlantic Ocean and Back Bay. Because the Pig Pickin’ is a popular community event, plan to give yourself extra time to arrive, park, and make your way into the event.
